Morning Light
If you align a mirror with your morning window, the space will become brighter as soon as you open your eyes and your day will start from a different angle.

This is a daily space routine that lightens everyday life. Use “Mirror, catch the morning sunlight” to build a more wellness-friendly home or desk.
If your room often feels dark in the morning, check the position of the mirror before adding another light. A mirror that catches the light coming through the window and spreads it into the room is the quietest device to lighten the density of space without using electricity.
‘Getting morning sunlight’ in POKIT does not mean exposing yourself to sunlight. When you blink and wake up, you move one point of the mirror so that the first surface your gaze touches is a bright, even surface. Without major modifications, simply changing the angle of the existing mirror is sufficient.
This is why mirrors are placed opposite the windows in Nordic interiors. It makes the interior look brighter even during the short days of winter, and gives your eyes time to adjust smoothly when you wake up in the morning.
Throughout the day, remember where the first thing you look after waking up is. This is usually the wall facing from the bed, the front door, or one side of the living room. If you roughly plot the angle from that point to the window, you will see an area where light cannot reach in a straight line.
Between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., open the curtains just 30cm and visually check the brightness of the room during that time. The window that lets in the softest light is the ‘morning window’. It’s okay if it doesn’t face south. An east or west window will also do the job.
If you place a mirror opposite a morning window or at a 45-degree angle, the light that comes in will be reflected back into the room. If you don't have a full-length mirror, you can start with a desk mirror or a small wall-mounted mirror. It's not the size that matters, it's the angle.
Heavy furniture in front of the mirror blocks the light path. Minimize plants or props under the mirror. The cleaner the reflective surface, the more evenly the light spreads. Even just wiping away the dust once a week will make a difference in how you feel.
Since the sun rises later in the winter, it is easier on the eyes to open the curtains only halfway rather than fully. In summer, adjust the blind angle to prevent direct sunlight from hitting the mirror. Glare actually makes waking up tiring.
The goal of this routine is not perfect mining. If the room feels a little brighter in the first 30 seconds after turning off the alarm, it's a success. That short difference changes the way you start your day before you make your morning coffee.
A mirror is not a decoration, but a tool that changes the path of light. Take just 10 minutes this weekend and try moving your mirror. On Monday morning, you can feel the air in your room changing.
Light is the cheapest material that changes the mood of a space.
