Tell Your Team When You're Focusing일상

It's hard for colleagues to know you're concentrating when your chat window looks exactly the same as it does all day. A short status can make your availability clearer.

Before a focus session, set a message with the task boundary and a return time: “Working on the draft until 11. I'll check messages afterward.” If useful, align it with your calendar and set the status to expire automatically.

Agree on what urgent means

A status message isn't an agreement by itself. Discuss response expectations with your team, especially when your role involves support or time-sensitive decisions. Leave an appropriate route for genuinely urgent contact.

Then adjust notifications in a way that matches that agreement. You don't need to disappear from every channel or pretend you're available while silently ignoring it.

When the block ends, clear or update the status and check what needs attention. If the same interruptions keep happening, revisit the working arrangement rather than making the message sterner. A good focus status gives other people useful information, not a barrier they have to guess how to cross.
