QUIET
NIGHT
Skip the sofa and the bag of snacks before sleep. If you are truly hungry, sit at the table with one plate. A bedtime scene, different from the afternoon handful of nuts or the evening cup of tea.

In a dark kitchen the fridge light hits the face. A bag is in the hand, and the feet already go to the sofa. With the screen on, the late snack has no end.
This is not the afternoon handful of nuts. It is not the evening cup of tea or chamomile. This is eating right before sleep. If you are hungry, one plate at the table. If you are not, turn the kitchen light off.
If the sofa and the bed become eating spots, sleep and snacking share a seat. At the table, a start and an end show up. When the plate is empty, the meal is over.
A large, oily, or spicy plate right before lying down sits in the stomach for a long time. If the hunger is real, a small plate is enough. That is different from emptying a bag with the screen still on.
1. After dinner, switch off the bright kitchen light. If you need a late snack, use only the table lamp. The sofa lamp is not for eating.
2. Before the fridge opens, ask one line: “Am I hungry, or is my mouth bored?” If bored, drink water and turn the light off.
3. If hungry, take a plate first. Do not walk to the sofa with the bag. Sit with only what fits on the plate.
4. Set the phone face down. If you already use the evening phone basket, that comes first. Do not snack and scroll with one hand.
5. When the plate is empty, wash it or leave it in the sink and turn the light off. There is no second plate. Sit a moment and breathe before you lie down. Do not jump from the table into bed.
Do not open the delivery app “just for a second.” Just a second becomes a set menu. Do not eat in the bedroom. Keep this apart from the two items on the bedside table. Caffeinated soda is not a night window, same as the afternoon caffeine cutoff.
Late snack at the table, one plate. Or the light goes off.
