Spaces
Put away the day's loose items and leave yourself a usable patch of counter for the morning.
The kitchen counter collects more than cooking: a letter, a shopping bag, a mug, a charger. By evening, preparing breakfast can already look like tomorrow's first cleanup job.
Choose one section to clear after dinner. Return things to the rooms or cupboards where they belong, put food away safely, and deal with dishes as your evening allows. Wipe the surface using a method suitable for its material.
A clear counter doesn't have to be completely empty. Keep the appliances and items you genuinely use, with enough room and ventilation to operate them safely. Moving the kettle into a cupboard every night isn't useful if it makes mornings harder.
If the same papers return daily, give them a home outside the food-preparation area. If a shared counter stays busy, agree on one patch everyone can keep available.
Stop when that surface is ready for ordinary use. You haven't committed to cleaning the entire kitchen before sleep. You've made a small space where the next meal can begin without first moving yesterday aside.
