Alternate sitting with comfortable movement or brief standing breaks, using a setup that supports the task you're doing.

A standing desk isn't the only way to change position during work. You can stand for a short conversation, walk to get water, or take a break between tasks, if those options suit you.
Use an existing cue rather than relying on a perfect schedule. The end of a call or a saved document may be enough to remind you that you've been still for a while.
Don't bend over a low desk or balance a laptop on something unstable just to stand. If you want to work standing, the surface, screen, and input devices need to fit that position. Otherwise, let standing be a break from the task and return to a comfortable seated setup.
Forty-five minutes sitting and five minutes standing is one possible reminder pattern, not a universal prescription. Adjust to your comfort, responsibilities, and any professional advice. Long periods standing can also be uncomfortable.
Some days movement will mean a change in seated position or another accessible option. The useful idea is variety that works for you, rather than replacing one rigid posture with another.
