Movement

7-minute morning stretch

7 minutes after waking up, morning stretching next to the bed to relax your neck, shoulders, and back. It is possible without sportswear.

7-minute morning stretch

This is a practical daily routine. Use “7-minute morning stretch” as a small habit you can repeat.

When I wake up in the morning, my body is stiff. Either you slept in the same position all night, or you sat all day yesterday. Taking just 7 minutes before drinking coffee will change your first movement of the day.

No need for sportswear. You can do this on the floor next to your bed in your pajamas. Slowly in that order: neck, shoulders, and back.

It's not about following YouTube, it's about 7 minutes of stopping at the line where your body says 'cool'. If pain occurs, stop immediately.

Morning stretching is not a record of your exercise, but rather a signal to your body to make the first movement of the day. If you drink coffee 7 minutes later, that sequence becomes your morning rhythm.

7 minutes as soon as you wake up

Get off the bed and sit on the floor. Pull both knees toward your chest and hold for 20 seconds. Slowly tilt your head left and right to stretch the side of your neck for 15 seconds each. Raise your shoulders toward your ears and lower them over 4 seconds. 5 times.

From crawling on all fours, slowly do 5 cat-cow poses. This is a movement in which you place only your palms and knees on the floor and round and straighten your back. If you feel your lower back getting warm, that's enough.

Stand and extend both arms upward to stretch your entire body. 10 seconds. If you drink a glass of water immediately after stretching, your body will be more aware of the 'start'.

In cat-cow pose, you exhale when you round your back and inhale when you straighten it, so your breathing and movement match. No rush for 7 minutes.

Pulling your knees, tilting your neck, raising and lowering your shoulders—just three minutes on days when you don't have time can reduce morning stiffness.

When 7 minutes is burdensome

On days when you're short on time, you can shorten it to 3 minutes—just your neck and shoulders. Pull your knees, tilt your neck left and right, raise and lower your shoulders. These three things alone will reduce morning stiffness.

If you repeat the same sequence for 7 minutes every day, after a few weeks your movements will become faster and your body will remember them first. If you set the alarm to 'wake up + 7 minutes stretching', it will be difficult to miss.

Neck, shoulders, waist, reason for order

The reason we start with the neck is because the tension built up in the pillow all night long needs to be released first. Relaxing your shoulders makes your arm movements lighter, and the cat-cow pose wakes up your stiff back from bed.

If it feels 'cool', it's enough; if it feels 'painful', it's too much. 7 minutes in the morning is an investment that gets you through the day.

If you shower after stretching, your body will start off cleaner. By taking just 7 minutes before showering, you will feel less weight on your shoulders and back throughout the day.

If you set your alarm to 'wake up + 7 minutes', your body will remember it a few weeks later. 7 minutes is the shortest investment you can make to get through the day.
