Everyday routines
If you forget to clean between your teeth, linking it to lunch may make the daily habit easier to remember.

Lunch is finished, your bag is still beside you, and the afternoon hasn't quite begun. That familiar gap can be a useful reminder to clean between your teeth.
Keep floss or the interdental cleaner recommended by your dental team somewhere easy to find. After lunch is one possible time; choose another if it fits your day better. The American Dental Association recommends cleaning between teeth once a day, alongside brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste.
If you're using floss, guide it carefully between the teeth rather than snapping it into the gums. Curve it around the side of a tooth and move it gently along the surface, then clean the adjacent tooth. Use a fresh section as you go. Follow the instructions for your chosen tool, particularly around dental work or braces.
Put the container back in the same pocket or drawer when you're done. That small step makes tomorrow easier.
If flossing hurts or bleeding persists, ask your dental team about the technique and tools that suit you. The aim is a manageable daily habit, not a painful task to force through.
