Put Your Phone Away for the Elevator Ride일상

The elevator doors close and your hand reaches for your phone. There may only be a few floors to go, but that's enough time to open a message, a headline, or a video you won't finish.

Try leaving the phone in your pocket or bag for this ride. Notice the floor indicator, the hum of the lift, or the simple fact that you don't need to do anything until the doors open.

No special exercise required

Breathe normally and stay aware of the other people around you. You don't need to shut your eyes, count breaths, or fill the interval with a mindfulness task. Keep access to any phone function you need for safety or accessibility.

When you arrive, let people exit and step out without looking down at a screen. You can check it again when you're safely out of the way.

This won't transform your relationship with technology in thirty seconds. It gives one small gap back to the journey itself. Start with the next ride and see whether you miss anything by letting it stay empty.
