Rainy-day journeys

On the move
Set the audio before moving and let a familiar part of the drive have fewer distractions.
A car can fill every journey with a soundtrack: news, calls, music, a podcast waiting to resume. On one ordinary drive, try leaving entertainment audio off for a short stretch.
Make the choice before setting off. Keep navigation prompts and safety alerts you need, and don't adjust the phone or audio system while driving. Thursday can be a reminder if it helps, but there's nothing special about that day.
Pay attention to traffic, signs, and the road. This isn't a meditation session, a breathing exercise, or a time to examine your thoughts closely. The point is simply to drive with less optional audio competing for attention.
If silence feels uncomfortable, choose whatever setup best supports safe attention. If you're tired or drowsy, neither silence nor loud music makes it safe to continue; stop somewhere suitable and address the fatigue.
Ten minutes is an experiment, not a rule to finish despite changing conditions. Once parked, you can decide whether the quieter journey felt useful. You may prefer it sometimes and want music on other days.
